Breitling Introduces SHIB, BTC and Other Crypto as Payment Methods

Breitling, a luxury watch brand has upgraded its payment methods with the addition of Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Bitcoin (BTC). Before now, the luxury brand had introduced blockchain technologies into its operations, making it rank as the first watch brand to do this for all its products.

Notably, each of the Breitling watches comes with a non-fungible token (NFT) designed as a digital passport. The NFT is suggested during every purchase to strengthen customers’ ownership of the watch. Also, subscribers are eligible for some benefits including online estimation tools and the Breitling Trade platform.

In addition, the NFT can use blockchain technology to permit the transfer of watch ownership. Traceability is also a bonus associated with the Breitling NFT. Information concerning the watch like its serial number, warranty status, and history is available.

According to the Swiss watchmaker, these crypto payments will be conducted via a non-custodial crypto wallet app called BitPay. The payment processor allows payments through the use of Bitcoin, Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE), and five stablecoins. Therefore, Breitling customers will be allowed to transact with any of these cryptocurrencies.

BTC and Other Crypto Patronage in the Fashion Industry

More fashion brands are tugging towards cryptocurrency and its use, especially as a means of payment. Hublot, another Swiss luxury watchmaker announced earlier in June that it would accept crypto for the purchase of its latest released products.

Only 200 pieces of the Big Bang Unico watches were produced. For this reason, payment via crypto is exclusively reserved for the Hublot United States eBoutique customers.

Away from watch brands, Balenciaga also integrated crypto payment into its purchase methods. The fashion brand, not minding the volatility of the market, now accepts BTC and ETH for payment of its products. It is now active in some of its outlets like New York Madison Avenue and Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.

Again, a globally recognized fashion brand Gucci has also declared that some of its United States local stores now accept crypto. Although, other branches will be included in no time.

The cryptosphere is receiving an influx of attention from numerous industries globally including the fashion world, and this attention is an encompassing one that may not slow down anytime soon – if at all.
