In its bid to stay on top of global regulatory challenges relating to the crypto industry, Binance has tapped the former chairman of First Bank of Nigeria (FBN), Ibukun Awosika to join its advisory board.
The exchange shared the update in a blogpost, emphasizing its longtime goal of furthering the freedom of money. To achieve this, Binance has acknowledged that there are hurdles to scale past, especially on the regulatory front. Therefore, the exchange is hoping to work hand-in-hand with the best hands across the globe as it continues to explore ways to maximally tap the potentials of blockchain technology and Web3. Part of the post reads:
“The underlying technology of blockchain holds tremendous promise, and we’re here to unlock it together.”
Binance Appoints Ibukun Awosika, Others as Global Advisory Board Members
Binance is arguably a world leader when it comes to championing crypto adoption. But while it certainly holds the position on paper, the giant exchange is looking to hone that rank even with more expertise and increased management. This is exactly what has birthed the Global Advisory Board (GAB) at this particular moment in time.
Interestingly, the GAB has chosen its members from a wide range of fields as Binance looks to focus on regulatory compliance and transparency. The firm will draw the strategic counsel of these experts, to discuss issues bordering on regulation, compliance, politics, and social issues that the crypto industry is currently facing.
It is worth mentioning that one of the experts that Binance has chosen to join the GAB is Ibukun Awosika. The Nigerian-born Awosika was the first female Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria. She founded The Chair Centre group and was also Chairman of the Nigerian Advisory Board, for Impact Investing and Convention on Business Integrity. The highly accomplished is also a member of the G7 International Task Force for impact investing and has authored several books.
Speaking about her onboarding, Awosika expressed her pleasure and pledged her full support to the cause. She said:
“I am proud to play a role as a member of its Global advisory board and to be a part of truly transforming the web3 economy.”
Other prominent names on the Advisory Board include Max Bacus former U.S. Senator, Montana, Hyung-Rin Bang, advisor of the Korea Presidential Committee, Bruno Bézard, former Head of the French Treasury, and others.
